Finance Lab: Building Financially Strong Businesses

October 14 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Do you know your numbers well enough to qualify for an SBA loan? Join our free weekly Finance Lab for hands-on guidance.

Do you know your numbers well enough to qualify for an SBA loan? Are your financial statements telling the right story to lenders and investors? Whether you’re just starting out or looking to scale, understanding business finance is the key to unlocking capital and building a sustainable enterprise.

About the Finance Lab

The Finance Lab is a weekly, hands-on session designed for entrepreneurs who want to take control of their business finances. Each week, we break down a core financial topic — from reading your profit and loss statement to building cash flow projections that lenders actually want to see. This isn’t a lecture. It’s a working session where you’ll leave with real tools, templates, and strategies you can apply to your business immediately.

Who Is This For?

The Finance Lab is for small business owners, aspiring entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, and anyone who wants to understand the financial side of running a business. Whether you’ve been in business for ten years and still feel unsure about your books, or you’re preparing to apply for your first SBA loan, this session meets you where you are.

What You’ll Learn

Each session covers a focused topic from the world of small business finance. Over time, attendees will build a strong foundation across all of the following areas:

  • SBA loan readiness — what lenders look for and how to prepare your application
  • Reading and interpreting financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
  • Bookkeeping fundamentals and choosing the right accounting tools
  • Cash flow management and forecasting
  • Creating financial projections that tell your business story
  • Building and repairing business credit
  • Debt management strategies for growing companies
  • Tax planning essentials for small business owners
  • Understanding CDFI lending and community capital resources
